Individual Supervised Practice Pathway (ISPP)
The KADDI Individualized Supervised Practice Pathway (ISPP) is an alternative supervised practice option for individuals holding a doctoral degree with or without a DPD verification statement. The program is offered through KADDI and accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND).
KADDI's ISPP provides the necessary supervised practice hours and experiences to meet the competencies required by ACEND. Upon completion, interns are eligible to sit for the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) exam. The program requires a minimum of 1,000 hours of supervised practice, covering areas such as clinical nutrition, community nutrition, and food service management.
To be eligible for the KADDI ISPP, applicants must hold a doctoral degree. A verification statement from an ACEND-accredited DPD Program is NOT required. The program emphasizes flexibility, allowing interns to choose their preceptors and tailor their rotations to their career interests, whether they are pursuing clinical, community, or food service management roles.
Program Completion Requirements
In order to graduate and receive a verification statement, interns must:

Complete a minimum of 1000 hours with a minimum of 700 hours being supervised practice (including PAL credit if any)

Must hold a Doctoral Degree prior to admission to the KADDI ISPP Track.

Submit to KADDI an official transcripts of all institutions attended including a transcript from the doctoral degree program showing the degree confer date.

Finish all assignments in the curriculum and submit preceptor evaluations.

Must be completed before leaving your rotation site.

Meet each ACEND competency for Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (CRDNs) one or more times

Complete the KADDI final exam with a required score of 70% or higher

Fulfilled all financial obligations
Overview of Individualized Supervised Practice Pathways
ACEND policies for ISPPs allow individuals holding a doctoral degree with or without a DPD verification statement to apply for an ISPP; however, eligibility requirements and options may vary by program. Note that the option for graduates with a DPD verification statement who did not match to a dietetic internship is in the process of being discontinued.
The flexibility of the models allowed self-directed individuals to flourish, many of whom became leaders in dietetics; however, the lack of protections and formal accountability to students, especially when practitioners became unable to fulfill their obligations to some students was problematic.
In September 2011, the Academy announced the development of Individualized Supervised Practice Pathways or ISPPs ("ispeys"), which are intended to add supervised practice capacity through ACEND®-accredited dietetics programs while providing student protections missing from the unaccredited models of the past.

The Keith & Associates Doctoral ISPP aims to train individuals with doctoral degrees to become competent entry-level registered dietitian nutritionists, delivering the highest possible standard of quality for patient care and also the highest standard of professionalism and customer care.

I do think that KADDI helped push me to chase my dreams of wanting to start my own business here in the near future. I also think it allowed me to gain confidence more quickly given I did feel like I was on my own for most of it.
